Headaches and Hydration: Are they related?

Headaches and migraines are an individual's feeling of intense pain in their head or face. One may feel pressure, throbbing, stabbing pain, or all the above. The symptoms will vary from person to person and can be influenced by multiple factors.

Headaches are complicated to understand but affect more than 39 million Americans. According to the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), 1 in 6 individuals experience symptoms of a headache or migraine over a three month period. The stats also indicate headaches are reported to be the fourth most common reason for visits to the emergency room. To change these stats and improve our outcomes, we must educate ourselves to better manage and prevent headaches.

Migraines can become unbearable and stop you from being able to accomplish daily tasks living life each day, they can quickly become debilitating. Educating ourselves on the causes, symptoms, and treatments can keep you from missing those critical moments in your life.

Hospitals and Healthcare Professionals are starting to turn to IV therapy treatment to help combat the symptoms of headaches and migraines. An IV “cocktail,” including a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), Magnesium, anti-nausea medication, Benadryl, and electrolytes are utilized to target pain and symptoms. Your treatment team at any of our locations will review your health history and make recommendations to best help you.
